Real Madrid starts their title defense of the UEFA Champions League title with a home game against Sporting CP this Wednesday afternoon on Fox Sports 2.
Los Blancos have a perfect start to their La Liga season by winning their first three league games of the season. What's even better news There is even better news is that Cristiano Ronaldo has made his returned to the starting XI. And the best part is that he looked great in his comeback and scored the first goal in a 5-2 beat down against Osasuna this past weekend.
Sporting were runners-up in the Primeira Liga last season. And they make their return to the Champions League after being in the playoffs last year against CSKA Moscow. In their last six appearances, they got past the group phase one time, and that was when they advanced to the Round of 16 during the 2008/09 season.
The two other teams in Group F of the 2016/17 UEFA Champions League are Borussia Dortmund and Legia Warsaw.
Real Madrid does not give up many points in the group phase of the Champions League and is confident that they will start their campaign with important wins. Their last defeat at home in a group phase was in October of 2009 when AC Milan defeated Los Blancos in a 3-2 win.
It is tough to see Sporting posing as a threat to Madrid in this matchup. I believe Los Blancos are up for a big win in their first Champions League match of 2016. (Real Madrid Wins)
