Since October is the month of surprises, and trust me, we have had a lot of surprises this month. Whether it was Hurricane Matthew and the Donald Trump scandal, but wrestling has brought on a few October surprises. First, it was the return of Bill Goldberg, Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks inside Hell in a Cell, and now the latest surprise in the return of Mickie James at NXT TakeOver: Toronto where she will face the NXT Women's Champion in Asuka.
Is this a match I'm excited about? Yes! But there's a con in all of this. The con in all of this is that the NXT Women's Division is in a weak state. Don't get me wrong; I'm glad to see Mickie come back to a WWE ring. I believe the match will be a top match of the night candidate because Asuka faces a tough challenge in her championship reign.
No offense to any women in that division, but the stock of the NXT Women's Division has fallen since WWE brought back the Brand Extension. I still believe there is a potential for this division, but Asuka is the only star left in that division. Right now, any women's wrestler in that division can't defeat Asuka, and if they do, it's considered a major upset, since Asuka is still undefeated. And this is where Mickie comes into play. Both wrestlers will have a great match, and if she wins, this allows NXT to develop their women's wrestlers, and figure out the booking after Toronto.
I don't have an issue with it, but WWE needs to fix the NXT Women's Division. Asuka's kingdom will be dethroned at some point, but I want to ask my readers how WWE should fix this division?
