It’s going to be the Nerazzurri derby as Atalanta square off against Inter at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia this Sunday morning on Bein Sports USA.
Inter arrive in Bergamo after picking up their first victory in the UEFA Europa League against Sunderland. Antonio Candreva’s goal was enough to give Frank de Boer’s squad a much-needed win. However, it wasn't an impressive win, and things got rough as Marcelo Brozovic was sent off for two fouls. The Croatian international has been having attitude issues and nearly cost Inter a win on Thursday, but it will be fascinating to see if there if Brozovic makes the starting XI.
A poor run, which includes two consecutive losses have seen Inter going down on the table. In fact, they go into this contest just one point shy from Atalanta, so another loss will see them continue to go rock-bottom. Meanwhile, Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad have shown some signs of improvement. Since losing 4-3 to Lazio in a classic, Atalanta have got a notable win by defeating Napoli.
However, they have not won a game against Inter since March of 2014. The last time Atalanta beat Inter at home was in November of 2012. Still, they have managed to pick up seven points in their last three games
Prediction: Although Inter has the advantage in series history, Atalanta picked up four points by defeating Napoli and drawing with Fiorentina. Despite the Viola having issues of their own, they have been quite stable in European competition. The Partenopei, meanwhile, are a tough team. They have managed to keep clean sheets in their last two games. Atalanta’s defense is doing something right. They will make it tough for Inter side who are struggling in their overall game. However, the Nerazzurri do have options when it comes to attack, which is going to make things tough for Atalanta. Another issue that Inter has is that they can't close out games, and after this game ends, I do see a draw.
