Tottenham Hotspur’s return to the UEFA Champions League after a long wait started with a loss to Monaco on the first matchday of 2016/17 campaign. Since then, the Spurs picked up a 1-0 victory at CSKA Moscow and a point against Bayer Leverkusen.
Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen is win-less after being held to consecutive draws in their three matches so far. Their opening match at home ended in a 2-2 tie with CSKA fighting back from 2 goals down. The 1-1 draw tie at Monaco on matchday two was a positive result.
Right now, Group E remains tight with Monaco leading the group with five points, Tottenham with four points, Bayer Leverkusen with three, and CSKA Moscow in last place with two points.
Prediction: None of the two sides is playing good football at the moment. Tottenham is winless in their last five games in all tournaments with four draws. Leverkusen ended their four-match winless streak in all competitions this past weekend with a victory against Wolfsburg. However, the home field advantage could work in favor of Tottenham. But Tottenham's biggest problem is the lack the goal-scoring in the absence of Harry Kane. Also, Leverkusen has a poor record in playing on the road in Champions League competition.
